# Dataset sharing

Dataset sharing is the practice of making a collection of data available to others for access, analysis and/or use. It can be beneficial for a number of reasons:

  • Diverse training data - dataset sharing allows users to access a wide variety of images. This diversity is crucial for training models that can accurately detect and classify objects under various conditions, such as different lighting, angles, and backgrounds.

  • Reduced data collection efforts - instead of collecting and labeling a large dataset from scratch, users can use shared datasets to start the training process. This saves time and enables faster model development.

  • Improved model performance - access to high-quality shared datasets can lead to improved model performance. The more comprehensive and diverse the training data, the better the model's ability to accurately detect and classify objects.

  • Collaboration - dataset sharing encourages collaboration among users. This can lead to the development of more accurate object detection and classification models.

For a visual guide, check out the tutorial on our Youtube channel:

To share a dataset, go to the Owned datasets. Hover over the gear icon next to the selected dataset. Select Share.

A pop-up window will open. Enter the email address of the user you want to share the dataset with, and select whether you want them to be able to modify and/or clone the dataset.

Keep in mind The email address must be the same as the one used to log in to OSAI.

Once a dataset is shared, you can always delete it or change the permissions.

From the perspective of the user to whom we have shared a dataset, the Shared datasets view will look like this:

In the Pending section, the user can decide whether to accept or reject the shared dataset.

If accepted, the dataset will be moved to the Accepted section and the user will be able to use it according to the permissions you selected earlier.
